This Creepy Thriller
Scott Derrickson's locked-room horror remains effective without requiring a follow-up. Set in 1970s Colorado, a series of child abductions has left the local kids frightened. But the non-functional line in the room continues to ring, with eerie communicators offering help, while the intuitive nightmares from his sibling Gwen could save him. A genuinely scary movie. The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the battle between faith and wealth, the victory is clear for Mammon in Michael Showalter's wonderfully garish biopic of the disgraced religious broadcaster plus her lawbreaking partner. The actor acts as the greedy Jim, who proclaims at the beginning, “God does not want us to be poor,”. Both individuals commence profiting from the nation's Christian beliefs. It's a spectacle of tacky decor, overdone appearance and insincerity, though Chastain manages to depict the character as a sympathetic figure. Tuesday 14 October, late night, the Film4 channel
